Anissa M. Bouziane

Anissa’s debut novel, Dune Song was written in English, but has already been published in four countries: the United Kingdom, the United States, France, and Morocco. In competition for the 2019 First Book Award of the Edinburgh International Book Festival, Dune Song has already won the Special Jury Prize of Casablanca’s Prix Littéraire Sofitel Tour Blanche. Anissa is currently working on her next novel as part of her PhD in Creative Writing at the University of Warwick where she is focusing on memory and the inheritance of fears.

 

In the Biography part can we alter the second paragraph that starts with “Anissa lived and worked…” to have it read instead as:

 

New: “Anissa lived and worked in New York City for more than ten years, until June of 2002, when she moved back to Morocco and then France. Dune Song is her first novel, published in 2019 in the US by Interlink Publishing as well as by Les Editions du Mauconduit in France as Sables. Dune Song was also published in the UK by Sandstone Press in 2018 and in Morocco in 2017 by Les Editions Le Fennec. The book, rooted in Anissa’s personal experience of witnessing the collapse of the Twin Towers, centers on the events of September 11th, as seen from the perspective of an Arab-American woman. Though written initially in English, the novel saw its first publication in French translation. “
